Prevention Programs

GCASA’s prevention services department strives to reduce the incidence and prevalence of substance use for people of all ages. Our philosophy is based on prevention science; using programs that are research based, data driven, and outcome focused.

A needs assessment is administered to youth throughout Genesee and Orleans Counties biannually, helping us identify appropriate strategies to address the community need. GCASA Prevention Educators are available to deliver a variety of services and certified programs in schools and the community. Our programs and presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of your classroom or group.

Prevention offices are located in Batavia and Albion. If your questions about our prevention services and programs are not answered on our website, contact Assistant Director of Prevention Sheila Harding at 585-815-1872 or sharding@gcasa.org.

Prevention Services

Programs are delivered in school and community settings.

Prevention services range from one-to-one support services for youth, evidence based programs, and community presentations.  Prevention educators cover a variety of topics related to the prevention of substance use disorders to include presentations on current drug trends and gambling prevention, Narcan training, and direct services through Accountability Circles, DWI Victim Impact Panel and Responsible Server Training.

Our service area is primarily Genesee and Orleans counties, however some programs extend to Wyoming, Alleghany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Livingston counties.

Accountability Circle

Accountability Circles focus on providing coaching and education for youths who have been ticketed for underage drinking or violating their school code of conduct. Learn more about the benefits of the program.
